I only have one more conference tomorrow and then I am done!! Yea!! Yesterday was very long. Working 12 hours is so hard. Teaching and conferencing with parents all in one day is very exhausting, but I made it. Today I only had to work until 12:30. I met my mom for lunch and then we went shopping! We found some really great bargains. I bought a Tommy Hilfiger shirt for only $2.99. We also enjoyed a yummy cookie from Paradise Bakery. I met Doug later at one of our favorite Thai restaurants for dinner. All in all, it was a great day. I have another half day tomorrow. Time for a pedicure and a little house cleaning.

Have a great day!

Snow Day???

Day two of conferences is over!!! Yea! Now just to make it through tomorrow. I will have conferences until 7:30 tomorrow night, so it will be a very long day. This school is very different than my previous schools. Not only do they do conferences once a year, but I think they have them three times a year!!! Yuck! I do not really enjoy talking to parents. Nothing personal, but they tend to be a bit stressful. On a bright note, I will have half days Thursday and Friday!!

I was a little jealous of my friends in Oklahoma and Ohio today. They all got to enjoy a snow day!!! While I don't miss the shoveling and scraping, a little snow didn't sound too bad at 5:30 this morning.

Blog Design Finished?????

I think I am finally happy with my blog page now. It's only taken me a month to find a design and layout that I like!! There are so many choices and things to learn. I'm sure I will make more changes in the future! I love the music by Natalie Grant. I think the words really speak for themselves.

It's clean car day!!! I think my dad finally has us trained to realize that our car needs cleaning at least once a month. It may not rain much in Arizona, but it sure does get dusty. So, we will go over later for a little soap and suds. I think my mom will also have both tablecloths done!!!

I have the absolutely biggest sweet tooth ever!!!! Just ask my dentist. Lamars has absolutely the best donuts! I guess you can see where this is leading.

Hope you indulge in your own sweet tooth experience today!

Lazy Saturday

It's a lazy Saturday here in Arizona. I did some grading which is always loads of fun especially when it's math!! KU basketball is coming on in an hour. Hoping for a win!!!

Went to a new pizza restaurant last night with my family. We like to try new ones every week. This one was voted number two in the valley, so we had high expectations. And it did not disappoint us! I'm so glad we have pizza leftovers for lunch today!!

I also gave my mom the rest of the fabric to make my table skirts. I can't wait to get those back.

Have a great day!

I'm Glad Tomorrow Is Friday!!!!

Well, I'm glad this week is almost over! I have had a roller coaster of a ride the last two days. God never stops amazing me! What peace and joy to know that He is still on His throne.

I had a meeting after school tonight, so Digiorno's Pizza provided supper! It was very yummy! Other than that, it's a pretty quiet night! Need to run to the store and get some milk and cookies for the 6th grade/kindergarten buddy program tomorrow.

Have a great Friday!

The day after a holiday always seems to bring its own special challenges. You enjoy the three days, but four days would have been better. I'm sure if I would have had four days, I would have wanted five. Oh well, I do appreciate the one extra day anyway.

The weather was absolutely beautiful here today. Since the Cardinals won their game last Sunday, all sixth grade had an extra recess. It's was almost too hard to come back in and get to work, but we somehow managed to do it. I think that tomorrow we should go outside for our free reading time.

One of my major jobs today was to schedule all parent conferences. It is probably one of my least favorite responsibilities as a teacher, but one that is very important. I am praying for a good conference week!!

My parents came by this afternoon and picked up the material for my tables. I also showed them my new shelf in the family room. I will need to make a run to JoAnn's and get some more material to cover the smaller table. These covers will help warm up the room.

Well it's time for a run to Quick Trip! No NICS tonight! I hope we can make it!

I Love Three Day Weekends!

Well, I have certainly enjoyed my day off. I started my day having coffee with a friend from Sylvan. She teaches 7th and 8th math. She gave me some great ideas and advice for my own class which I greatly appreciated. I then came home and did some much needed cleaning. I always feel good to get that dreaded weekly house cleaning done!
Doug and I went to JoAnn's. I was looking for some nice material to make tablecloths for our bedroom. I found a nice coffee satin material that looks great. I will ask my mom to hem it and then it will be ready to go.

I have tried a new recipe tonight. It is a white chili soup. I got the mix at a craft show last fall. We are adding some chips and salsa and so we should have a great Mexican fiesta. It smells so yummy!!

Today is a big day in Arizona. The Arizona Cardinals are playing the Philadelphia Eagles for the right to play in the Super Bowl. Now why this might not interest many, it is exciting to see an athlete openly express his belief in Jesus. Kurt Warner has been playing football a long time in the NFL and many thought his playing days were over a year ago. While Kurt's career has had its share of ups and downs, one thing has been consistent, his faith in Jesus Christ. Win or lose today, Kurt Warner is a winner in the super bowl of life.

Go Cardinals!!

It's a Tuesday night in January, so that means only one thing. It's the start of the new season of American Idol. I must say the show does not hold the same allure to me, but it's still fun to watch. Singing is not one of my gifts, but it doesn't stop me from belting out a few notes in the car (just ask my husband). It does remind me, however, we are to sing praises to God throughout our day. I found a couple of verses that were laid upon my heart to share.

Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
Psalm 105:2

I also like this one:

I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
Psalm 34:1

It is my prayer that I am always singing praises to God no matter the time or circumstance.

God is good!

I am enjoying a nice cup of cappuccino this morning as I prepare to do my morning devotions. It is another beautiful day in the valley of the sun. Sometimes I miss those cold mid-west winter mornings, but all it takes is the warm gentle breeze to rush over me to realize this is pretty good. It has been quite a busy week getting back into the swing of things after two weeks off. The school year has gotten off to a good start, but the devil would still like me to steer away from my goal. He likes to bring doubts and hurt feelings to make me lose sight that I am a child of God. But I am going to keep pressing on, Philippians 3:14 until I win the prize!! The world maybe spinning out of control around us, but what a joy and comfort to know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore.

God is good!!

Have a great day!

Well, I made it through my first day back after a long two weeks vacation. I had a great day. The kids seemed to be excited to be back at school and eager to get things started. Well maybe not math, but we made it through anyway. The devil tried to dampen my day with hurt feelings, but that was just not going to happen today. What comfort and hope I have by resting in the arms of Jesus.

Now just to get through report cards!!

A Different Year

I can't believe I'm at the end of my Christmas break already. I had a wonderful time, but it is now time to get back to the job at hand, teaching! I don't want to think of it as a job. It is my ministry. As I start 2009, I want to make this year devoted to God. I want my students and colleagues to see something different in me. A sinner saved by grace. I truly believe that God has placed me in this school with these students for a reason. That reason, to bring honor and glory to Him.
God is good!

Looking forward to a Jesus year!

Well, we were concerned about our Betta fish, Archie, last night. He was not doing very well. I was disappointed because I thought I had done everything right to make his living conditions as ideal as possible. He would not eat, so we thought he was dying. I had been very concerned about his water lately after we had taken it into Petsmart to be tested. It was full of all kinds of impurities!! And this was the water from our faucet!!! Well, in a last ditch attempt to help Archie, we took out all rocks and put in bottle water into his tank. I knew that when I got up today, I probably would not have a fish anymore. I prayed to God last night asking for a miracle. When I went downstairs and looked towards his tank, I saw a totatlly different fish!! He was swimming around like crazy. I even got him to eat some food. I was so excited!! I know he is only a fish, but he was created by God. It got me to thinking about my own Christian life. It we put junk or impurities in our life, we will reap junk and impurities. We will be spiritually sick if not also physically sick. I don't know about you, but that is not a pretty outcome. I like to think that the Bible is my bottle water. Archie and I are taking it one day at a time. We will make sure we are always swimming in "clean water."

Happy New Year

Well, I have had a very relaxing morning. I so enjoyed reading all the verses on Siesta. I am going to keep a journal of favorite verses. This afternoon, my husband and I are going to my parents' house. My dad loves to clean cars, so it's our turn next. I hope to go to Ikea later. Its been great that my husband and I have been off this week. It's our own mini vacation!
